Education is key in developing Tourism – UN Tourism Boss

The Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization has emphasized the need to develop the tourism industry.

Speaking to press men after touring the Ecole Hoteleire de Grand Bassam, Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili said he was happy to be in Cote D’Ivoire, stressing that education is one of the key priorities of the UN tourism body.

He applauded the director of the institute for his vision and initiative to build capacity for potential stakeholders of the sector.

Ambassador Zurab Pololikashvili added that in the next two days "we will sit with the minister and his team and seek to support them with technical expertise to grow and develop tourism in Cote D’Ivoire."

He said he was overwhelmed by the support he had received so far.

Mr. Pololikashvili also toured the facility with the Director.

On his part, the country’s Minister for Tourism, Siandou Fofana expressed his appreciation to the Secretary General and his team for the visit and said he looks forward to the discussions in the next few days.
