Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo has given hint the country could open its air borders to international travellers by September 1.
Addressing the nation on Sunday night, August 16, President Akufo-Addo said the Ministry of Aviation, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and other stakeholders are currently working with the Ministry of Health to ensure that every passenger who passes through the country's airport is tested for Coronavirus.
He said until the country is in a position to do so, its international airport remains closed to passengers.
"The outcome of that exercise will show us the way and determine when we can reopen our border by air. I am hoping that by God's grace we will be ready to do so by 1st September," he said.
