SUMMARY:2nd UN Tourism Regional Congress on Women Empowerment in Tourism in Africa
DESCRIPTION:The 2nd UN Tourism Regional Congress on Women’s Empowerment in Tourism in Africa will be organized jointly by UN Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry of the Republic of Zimbabwe. It will take place in Victoria Falls\, Zimbabwe from 29 April – 1 May 2026. \nWhile women make up 69% of the hospitality workforce in Africa\, they remain disproportionately concentrated in lower-paid or informal roles and are significantly underrepresented in executive leadership. \nThis congress aims to move beyond foundational empowerment towards leadership pathways and decisive institutional action. It will focus on catalyzing policies and partnerships that transform women from workforce participants into the primary architects and decision-makers of Africa’s tourism landscape. \n
