AviationGhana sources have confirmed that the Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Mr. John Dekyem Attafuah, has been relieved of his position with immediate effect almost two years after his appointment.

He took over from Mr. Charles Asare who left his post at the airports management company in March 2017. Mr. Attafuah, who served as the CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) between 2005 and 2009, was the boss of Virtual Access Limited– a market research company—prior to his appointment.

Sources say Mr. Attafuah has been directed by the parent ministry, the Aviation Ministry headed by Joseph Kofi Adda, to hand over to Mr. Yaw Kwakwa, the Deputy MD, to run the affairs of the GACL until a substantive MD is appointed.

He has over three decades of experience in the energy, services, Information Technology (IT) and pharmaceuticals.

Mr. John Dekyem Attafuah holds a degree in Computer Science and Statistics, from University of Ghana, Legon and a Master of Science degree, in Systems Development, from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
