UNWTO sends message of condolence following deadly attack in Somalia

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has expressed profound sadness and wishes to console families and friends of victims following a terror attack at a hotel in Kismayo, Somali on Friday.

The UNWTO in a message posted on its official media handles said “We are deeply saddened to learn the news of the terrorist attack at the hotel in #Kismayo, Somalia????????.On behalf of the global #tourism community, #UNWTO expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with you.” The message ended.

The BBC reports that, at least 26 people, including a prominent journalist and several foreigners, were killed in an attack on a hotel in southern Somalia.

A suicide bomber rammed a car containing explosives into the Asasey hotel in the port of Kismayo, and gunmen then stormed the building.
