Lusaka’s underrated night odyssey

Zambia’s capital of Lusaka is one of the fastest developing cities in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The city’s population is about 2.5 million.

Lusaka is in the southern part of the central plateau at an elevation of about 1,279 metres (4,196 ft).

The growing urban population will mean traffic will begin to affect planning and everyday life. Luckily when you drive through the city at least you see a number of construction ongoing to meet the city’s growing demands.

Lusaka is a city which shuts down very early and as early at 20:30hrs you will be having an easy drive with a handful of cars on the main street.

Although it doesn’t have an extremely robust nightlife, there are plenty of bars, restaurants, discotheques among a number of entertainment centers where one can go hang out.

Don’t be discouraged if you are a night rider. The city even on midweek and some days in the week will treat you to the best entertainment one can think of.

A number of entertainments centres, night clubs, lounges and bars will make you wonder if the city shouldn’t be earmarked as one of the continent’s capital where a quality night life is assured on your visit.

Located at the East Park Mall in Lusaka, Chicago’s is one of the most popular places to enjoy cocktails in Lusaka while listening to a playlist of international songs. The decor features a vintage car and pictures of American music icons.

O’ Hagans is an Irish style sports bar located at the Woodlands Shopping Mall in Lusaka. It has indoor and outdoor seating perfect for groups. Enjoy a cocktail with live music on Thursday evenings.

Places like The Hussar Grill Zambia, Cloud 9, the Social, Grandaddy’s Shoka Nyamaamong the many others offers guests terrific experience.

Lovers of live music will be served great genres of African music at the Bakery in Jesmondine, Chudleigh during their ‘’ Thursday Live’’ , an evening of live music performances with genre of music of African origin.

Sundays are best night to experience the street parties in the center of Lusaka. It’s barbecue style from 7pm till the wee hours of the next morning.

One of the city’s great attributes is its safety and security. With its peace-loving people, rarely will you be at risk during the time of your visit.

This city definitely cannot be underestimated when it comes to its night life. Next time you are visiting, make time to explore the unexplored bustling night life of Zambia.
