Fastjet Zimbabwe has announced the introduction of its new “Junior Explorer” Unaccompanied Minor services across its domestic and international network. The service is expected to be rolled out from Monday, 29 March 2021.

The Junior Explorer Unaccompanied Minor service is aimed at ensuring the wellbeing and care of those adventurous and admirable young children, between the ages of five (5) and under the age of twelve(12) years when travelling alone on a fastjet flight, ensuring their journey is a memorable experience.

The service offered exclusively via the fastjet Call Centre and fastjet travel shops must be pre-booked at least three days before the planned travel time. Travel for Unaccompanied Minors is available on flights that arrive at their destination before 20h00 local time. So just before most travellers of this age will start to feel a little tired after the excitement built up in the day starts to wear off.

Fastjet’s ’Junior Explorer’ service shall be available for a fee, terms and conditions apply. A maximum number of Unaccompanied Minors will be accepted on a fastjet flight, so parents or legal guardians need to book in advance to guarantee a confirmed arrangement.

A fastjet spokesperson shared, “We are delighted to introduce the new “Junior Explorer” Unaccompanied Minor service for our future VIPs. We have designed the experience to ensure the welfare of the children is attended to at all touchpoints and most importantly to create a memorable new adventure and experience”.

A friendly fastjet representative will ensure that the Junior Explorer is taken care of from check-in until seated onboard and upon arrival at the destination where a designated pick-up person will be waiting more than thirty minutes before the arrival of the flight with great anticipation to welcome the young traveller.

The new Unaccompanied Minor service offered by fastjet is mandatory for children between the ages of five (5) to under twelve (12) years of age when travelling alone. The airline spokesperson further stated that Young Passengers older than twelve (12) years up to sixteen (16) years old, may travel as an adult, or on request of the parent can fly as an Unaccompanied Minor.

Fastjet’s generous free baggage allowances are offered to all ‘Junior Explorers’ and will include any promotional offers that may apply during the selected travel period. This includes cabin baggage, which for young travellers is recommended best suited as a small item that can be placed underneath the seat in front of them.
