In the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Moroccan authorities decided to suspend flights to and from France and Spain from March 30, 2021.

“As part of the preventive measures taken by Morocco against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, passenger flights to and from France and Spain will be suspended from tomorrow, March 30, 2021, at 11:59 p.m., and this until further notice”, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a statement. “Special passenger flights from these two destinations will be subject to reinforced controls, in accordance with the health protocol defined by the competent Moroccan authorities.”

France and Spain join a list of 40 countries to which Morocco has suspended its flights including Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy, until April 10, 2021, at the earliest. The date marks the end of the state of emergency, though it will probably be extended due to the resurgence of the health crisis.

Following the announcement, Royal Air Maroc and the low-cost carrier Air Arabia Maroc said that “exceptionally”, passengers to fly to Moroccan airports on March 30, 2021, would not be required to hold a test result. “They will be processed upon their arrival in Moroccan airports by the Ministry of Health,” Royal Air Maroc explained.
