Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport & Culture (MYSC), Botswana Motor Sport (BMS), Kgalagadi District Council (KDC) and Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) will from the 27th – 30th April 2023 host the Khawa Dune Challenge & Cultural Festival at Khawa.

The event, now in its tenth-year is one of the tourism product diversification initiatives aimed at amongst others stimulating domestic tourism market demand. The Khawa Dune Challenge & Cultural Festival continues to contribute to the development of local communities, providing support to those who pursue business opportunities.

The event continues to grow with additional activities introduced every year to make it more appealing. It should be noted that the BTO carries out a socio – economic survey every year and the results continue to suggest positive socio-economic gains on the livelihoods of the community of Khawa and surrounding places, before and after the event.

The event has made a key contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of the host communities by providing them with a platform to showcase their cultural dance and song. Khawa has secured a prominent place on the map and has gained recognition as one of the tourism attractions in Botswana.

Visit Khawa and immerse yourself in the dune challenge fun.
