Africa’s Travel Indaba, a 3-day trade show, is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and an iconic African leisure trade show, with a specific objective of creating market access for our vast array of African leisure tourism Products. This year show will take place in the Host Province of KwaZulu Natal, from the 8th — 11th May at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, Durban, South Africa.

Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has been participating at INDABA since its inception over 22 years ago, to give service operators an opportunity to exchange ideas, promote and sell their services and further network as part of marketing. It is important that the BTO participate and promote Botswana as a destination of choice and ensure local industry’s presence at the travel show. BTO will, this year, host thirty – seven (37) local tour operators to exhibit under its banner. The operators range from luxury tented camps game lodges, hotels, guest houses, mobile safari providers and destination marketing companies. The operators will get an opportunity to conduct exclusive business-to-business meetings with global agents/buyers, and potential partners and sell packages. On our quest to facilitate the travel and tourism industry’s Small, Medium & Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), BTO has brought on board CEDA & LEA to support these existing businesses at the INDABA.

Still in Africa’s Travel Indaba, Honorable Minister of Environment & Tourism Philda Nani Kereng will speak on Business Sustainability through Market Access, with focus on Spotlight on Women Empowerment, along with other hight profile participants from the tourism industry, amongst the topics to be discussed at the scheduled Business Opportunities and Networking Day. The Minister is accompanied by the BTO Board Marketing and PR Committee Chairperson, Ms. Botho Mogami, BTO Board member Mrs. Kedibonye Proctor and BTO Acting CEO – Ms. Keitumetse Setlang.

BTO strives to aggressively conduct target specific marketing exhibitions and stakeholder engagements to stimulate sector recovery and INDABA offers such a platform in the advancement of Botswana tourism and sustainable development of the Botswana’s economy.
