Shaun Stylist drops his first single of the year ‘JJ PHAKATHI’ featuring some of the hottest new talent T&T MuziQ, Pushkin RSA, Springle, and Jay Jay.
The release of ‘JJ PHAKATHI’ marks his collaboration with Warner Music Africa (WMA), after announcing the signing in June. The track, an Amapiano anthem set to take over the streets, is bold but holds space in advancing Shaun’s core goal of inspiring young talent:
“The song is about encouraging people to go for anything they want to achieve – even beyond and outside the music industry; but any goal that they visualize can be materialised”, says Shaun.
Known amongst his followers as an influencer who is so in tune with his aesthetics, combining dapper outfit combinations, Shaun’s music career is reaching new heights since releasing ‘Oskae Beya Fatshe’ and ‘Uyabizwa’ independently in 2022.
Although he has other avenues to which he is dedicated, music is just as important:
‘I’ve had a love of music since early childhood and the support of my family, which spilled over into my adult life as well as my broader community both online and in person, have always encouraged me to pursue this dream.’
Shaun Stylist also shares his decision to enter the Amapiano scene is driven by seeing Just how much opportunity there is for growth, not just as an artist but as a country. Amapiano is a key South African culture export that the charismatic DJ is eager to explore:
‘Amapiano is the fastest-growing South African genre that is all about youth and culture. This genre is making a mark, even overseas, and this aligns naturally with my aim of taking my music abroad.’
Signing with WMA is also a testament to how far Shaun wants his music to travel.
‘Warner has a very large footprint in Africa and overseas and they have done amazing work as an entity. I want to succeed with my music and this deal will not only benefit me but will unleash budding talent onto the scene.’ says Shaun.
