[Photos]: Ghana Tourism Authority climaxes 50th anniversary with staff awards and dinner

The Ghana Tourism Authority has wrapped up the year-long celebration of its 50th year anniversary with a gala and awards ceremony.

The colourful event which was held at the Grand Arena last night was attended by directors, management and staff from all 17 regional offices with President Nana Akufo-Addo in attendance as special guest.

Also present were private sector tourism stakeholders and other agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Members of the GTA Ex Staff Association were also well represented.

The Authority recognised the hardworking staff from all the regions and the various departments, with awardees presented with certificates and other prizes.

President Akufo-Addo in his speech highlighted the immense contribution of the GTA, especially in the last six years in promoting and marketing Ghana as a top tourism destination. Commending their efforts, the President noted that, the Authority’s work has been and continues to be pivotal in government’s agenda in creating a robust tourism economy in Ghana.

For championing the “Year of Return” campaign, President Akufo-Addo was presented with giant portrait of himself taken on the very day he declared the Year of Return in the presence of the Congressional Black Caucus in the US in September 2018.
