In what is expected to be a celebration of Africa’s vibrant tourism industry, the Malawi International Tourism Expo (MITE) is set to return for its highly anticipated 5th edition, affectionately known as ‘Takulandirani’. From April 25th to 27th, 2024, the Bingu Wa Mutharika International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe will be abuzz with the sights, sounds and experiences that make Malawi the “Warm Heart of Africa”.

With over 43 buyers, 80 exhibitors, and a whopping 7000+ attendees from more than 14 countries already confirmed, MITE 2024 promises to be a dynamic gathering of tourism professionals, enthusiasts and media representatives from around the globe. This year’s event marks a significant milestone in the resurgence of tourism following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The expo offers a unique opportunity for visitors and trade visitors alike to engage with industry leaders, discover new products and services, and explore the rich tapestry of Malawi’s tourism offerings. Attendees can expect to meet suppliers, witness industry innovations, attend informative panel sessions led by experts and participate in engaging demonstrations.

One of the highlights of MITE 2024 is the chance for hosted buyers to partake in familiarization tours, providing an immersive experience of Malawi’s diverse landscapes, cultural heritage, and wildlife sanctuaries. These tours offer a firsthand glimpse into the treasures that await travellers seeking authentic African experiences.

Reflecting on the event’s significance in a promotional video Vera Kamtukule, Minister of Tourism shares, ‘this is the gathering of tourism giants across the world but especially from Malawi to showcase what Malawi has to offer.”

The Minister added that they are thrilled to welcome delegates, buyers, exhibitors and media representatives to “come and discover yourself and discover Malawi where there is everything tourism.”

Building on the success of previous editions, MITE 2024 is poised to reignite interest in Malawi as a premier tourism destination while fostering meaningful connections and collaborations within the global tourism community. As Africa fully recovers from the effects of unprecedented challenges like COVID-19, events like MITE serve as beacons of hope for further consolidating the resilience of tourism and celebrating the endurance of stakeholders.

For those eager to explore the wonders of Malawi and connect with like-minded individuals passionate about tourism, the Malawi International Tourism Expo 2024 promises an enriching and unforgettable experience.
