ITB Berlin 2025: Your guide to Africa’s participation

The return of the world’s leading travel show, ITB Berlin is hours from opening its doors to the world again. Taking place from 4-6 March, this year’s ITB Berlin focuses on transformation under the theme “The Power of Transition Lives Here. VoyagesAfriq, the continent’s leading travel, and tourism will be offering unparalleled coverage of Africa’s diverse and enchanting tourism offering to the world.

Despite a scaled-down version of the show two years ago, ITB Berlin remains a key event in the global travel industry. The event is set to host essential discussions at Germany’s renowned Messe Berlin venue. Kicking off on March 3, ITB Media Monday will provide the press an opportunity to engage with tourism leaders and key figures in the industry.

With a record number of international exhibitors from 165 countries, ITB Berlin 2025 promises to be a major highlight. Over thirty African destinations will be showcasing their tourism potential, with networking opportunities galore. The Africa Hall will be buzzing with key conversations on the growth and development of the continent’s tourism sector.

Africa will have a strong presence at ITB Berlin 2025, reflecting the region’s growing prominence in global tourism. South Africa leads the SADC contingent with Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi taking a significant space at Hall 6.2

Indian Ocean powerhouses Mauritius, Seychelles, Reunion Island, Comoros, and Madagascar will also be showcasing their offerings.

West Africa will be represented by Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Cabo Verde, all eager to attract attention to a region with immense potential that has yet to fully tap into key source markets.

Confirmed African countries include; Angola, Benin, Ghana, Seychelles, Mauritius, South Africa, Namibia,Tunisia, Botswana, Lesotho, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Cabo Verde, the Gambia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco,Swaziland, Sudan, Somalia, sierra leone, Seychelles, Rwanda, Sao tome & Principe, Reunion, Madagascar, Mozambique, Mauritania, Malawi, Guinea, Gabon, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Comoros, Congo.

EAC Debut
The East African Community (EAC) will, for the first time, participate as an entity having its own stand at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) – Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, from 4th – 6th March, 2025. Representing the region as a single tourism destination, the EAC will showcase its diverse attractions under the brand “Visit East Africa: Feel the Vibe.” The EAC Secretary General, Hon. Veronica Nduva observes that “this is part of the EAC’s efforts to position the region as a leading global tourism destination. The bloc aims to attract international tourists and investors by highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and unique attractions.”

Media conference to highlight SA’s tourism offerings
On 5 March 2025, Minister de Lille and the South African team will hold a media conference at ITB Berlin to present South Africa’s diverse tourism experiences, from safaris to luxury travel, as well as vibrant cities, adventure tourism, culinary experiences, and more. In addition, the 15 SMMEs will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one sessions with global media and trade professionals to introduce their businesses.

On show Solutions, a household name in the MICE and Tourism space will be hosting networking sessions every day at their stand from 5:00 pm.

Namibia to unveil new Visa on Arrival policy
Namibia will also unveil a new “Visa on Arrival” policy, effective from April 1, 2025, aimed at simplifying travel logistics for visitors to the country.
