The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has announced Juliana Kagwa, a highly accomplished leader in marketing and management, as its new CEO. This exciting appointment signals a fresh, dynamic direction for the “Pearl of Africa,” with Kagwa now poised to lead the nation’s tourism efforts toward unprecedented global recognition and growth.

Kagwa steps into the formidable shoes of Lilly Ajarova, who, after a dedicated tenure since January 10, 2019, has transitioned to a new role as a senior presidential advisor. The transition marks a significant moment for UTB, as it welcomes a leader with a rich and diverse professional background.

Before assuming her role at UTB, Kagwa served as the Group Sales Marketing Director at Seed Co Group, a prominent South African company. Her strategic prowess and leadership at Seed Co Group are expected to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to Uganda’s tourism marketing efforts. Prior to her role at Seed Co, Kagwa held the position of Director of Corporate Relations at Diageo, a global leader in alcoholic beverages.

Juliana Kagwa’s career trajectory is a testament to her extensive expertise in marketing and management, spanning various high-profile organizations. Her impressive resume includes stints as Marketing Director at Uganda Breweries Limited, Country Manager at Heineken, Marketing and Brand Manager at East African Breweries Limited and as a Media Representative at GlaxoSmithKline, a global healthcare giant.

Kagwa holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from Uganda’s prestigious Makerere University. she also possesses two Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees – one from the esteemed University of Edinburgh and another from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.
