As part of efforts to expand Ghana’s tourism reach into Central Europe, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) hosted a trade engagement with the Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents (ACCKA) in Prague, Czech Republic.

The tourism promotion event, held at Malostranská beseda Gastronomický provoz in Prague, brought together over 30 leading Czech tour operators, representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Regional Development of the Czech Republic, members of ACCKA, and key Ghanaian stakeholders.

The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mrs Maame Efua Houadjeto, was represented at the event by Mr Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, the Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and Special Duties along with Mrs Betty Kobi, the Director of Marketing.

Speaking at the event, Mr Aggrey highlighted Ghana’s rich and diverse tourism offerings, which include UNESCO World Heritage Sites, beautiful beaches, national parks, vibrant culture, historical landmarks, and year-round festivals. He also made a special presentation on “December in Ghana” and “The Black Star Experience”, two flagship tourism campaigns aimed at drawing global attention to Ghana as the ultimate travel destination.

“The time is right for Czech tour operators to discover Ghana – a country with unmatched hospitality, cultural wealth, and natural beauty,” Mr Aggrey stated, encouraging travel companies to package Ghana as a top destination for Czech tourists.

The Czech Tour Operators Association expressed great excitement at the opportunity to engage directly with Ghana’s tourism officials. They were particularly enthused by the cultural performances from the University of Ghana Dance Ensemble, which offered a glimpse into Ghana’s rich artistic heritage.

The Ghana Tourism team also distributed promotional souvenirs including Tourism Passports, Kente sashes, tourism maps, premium Ghanaian chocolate, and nutritious Ghanaian snacks, giving attendees a taste of Ghana’s vibrant culture and hospitality.

In addition, the Ghana Embassy in Prague, led by H.E. Madam Doris Adzo Denyo Brese, answered several questions about visa application procedures and assured the Czech tour operators of seamless support in facilitating travel arrangements for prospective tourists to Ghana.

Ambassador Brese praised the initiative and underscored Ghana’s commitment to building strong economic and cultural ties with the Czech Republic through tourism. She commended the Czech tour operators for their enthusiasm and openness to collaboration.

This direct marketing activation, the first of its kind in the Czech Republic, marks an important milestone in the GTA’s strategic push into the Central and Eastern European tourism markets. The Ghana Tourism Authority anticipates replicating this engagement in Poland and other key European destinations as part of a broader campaign to attract high-value visitors and investors into Ghana’s tourism sector.
