The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and Visa, a global leader in digital payments, have rolled out a joint travel campaign with Kenya Airways (KQ), that will see travellers enjoy discounts on their travels from April to September 2026, starting with the Easter period.

Under the campaign, travellers using a Visa card will receive 5% savings on local Kenya Airways flights and up to 8% savings on inbound international flights. To avail of these discounts, customers are required to use the promo code VISAKQ at the time of booking and pay with their Visa card.

Speaking during the launch of the campaign, KTB CEO June Chepkemei said, “This strategic collaboration with Visa and Kenya Airways is aimed at strengthening Kenya’s position as a premier global tourism destination through innovative, data-driven marketing.”

She noted that the collaboration would enable the three institutions to jointly design and execute targeted campaigns that promote Kenya both locally and internationally, leveraging their combined reach, platforms, and expertise to drive visitor numbers and enhance destination visibility across key source markets.

“A core pillar of the collaboration is the use of data and analytics to inform decision-making and unlock tourism growth. By leveraging Visa’s global insights on travel and spending patterns, KTB and KQ will gain access to destination-specific intelligence that will shape more precise marketing strategies, optimize resource allocation, and enhance competitiveness,” Chepkemei added.

Commenting on the campaign, Michael Berner Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager, Southern and Eastern Africa, stated, “Kenya is one of Africa’s most vibrant and diverse destinations. Through this collaboration, we are leveraging local insights to craft tailored, practical solutions while empowering SMEs across the tourism value chain with advanced digital payment tools. Entrenching card payments seamlessly across travel touchpoints means convenience for visitors and impactful growth for businesses.”

Speaking on behalf of the airline, Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial & Customer Officer Kenya Airways said, “At Kenya Airways, we are committed to making travel more accessible, rewarding and seamless for our customers. This campaign, in collaboration with Visa and the Kenya Tourism Board, will run for six months and allows us to offer real value to travellers while encouraging the use of secure digital payments across our booking platforms.”

The campaign marks an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Visa and KTB, which aims to strengthen Kenya’s tourism competitiveness by leveraging data insights, improving payment accessibility, and co-developing targeted marketing initiatives that enhance the visitor experience.

Through the broader agreement, Visa is supporting KTB with access to Visa’s Government Insights Hub, a data and analytics platform that provides insights into traveller spending patterns, seasonality, and source markets to inform more effective tourism marketing and strategy.

In addition to the campaign, the partners will co-develop loyalty programs and innovative payment solutions that encourage both domestic and international tourism spend, while improving convenience and engagement across the visitor journey.

The collaboration will also focus on enhancing the overall visitor experience by enabling seamless, secure, and accessible payment solutions across Kenya’s tourism ecosystem.

Through joint initiatives, the partners will promote wider adoption of digital payment systems across key touchpoints, support cross-border spending, and develop integrated campaigns targeting priority markets in Africa and beyond.
