The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) led Namibia’s participation at Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, which took place in Miami from 13–16 April 2026, as part of its strategic efforts to position Namibia as a premier global cruise destination.

As the coordinating body of the Namibian delegation, NTB spearheaded engagements with international cruise industry leaders, promoted Namibia’s unique tourism offerings, and facilitated high-level meetings aimed at unlocking new opportunities for the country’s tourism and maritime sectors.

NTB’s presence at the event built on the momentum from previous participation and

reinforced its commitment to growing Namibia’s visibility in the global cruise market. A key focus was the promotion of the Ports of Walvis Bay and Lüderitz as attractive and sustainable cruise destinations, capable of offering world-class visitor experiences.

Speaking during the event, NTB Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sebulon C. Chicalu, said:

“Seatrade Cruise Global provided NTB with a strategic platform to showcase Namibia’s tourism potential and strengthen relationships with global cruise operators. Our role was to ensure that Namibia was positioned competitively, while promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism growth.”

As part of its engagements, the Namibian delegation held strategic discussions with major international cruise operators, including TUI Cruises, Azamara Cruises, and Marella Cruises,as part of ongoing efforts to expand Namibia’s presence on global cruise itineraries.

In addition to destination marketing, NTB facilitated one-on-one business meetings,

networking engagements, and industry discussions for the Namibian delegation, ensuring maximum exposure and partnership opportunities for participating stakeholders.

The Board worked closely with key national partners, including NAMPORT, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), Walvis Bay Municipality, Lüderitz Waterfront, and tourism industry representatives to deliver a unified and impactful presence at the event.

Importantly, NAMPORT’s recent membership with the Cruise Lines International

Association (CLIA) served as a significant milestone for Namibia’s cruise tourism sector. This affiliation strengthened Namibia’s credibility within the global cruise industry and provided a critical platform to foster deeper engagement, collaboration, and development opportunities with leading cruise lines.

Through its leadership role, NTB aimed to:

• Enhance Namibia’s positioning as a competitive and sustainable cruise destination

• Strengthen partnerships with global cruise industry stakeholders

• Promote investment in tourism and port infrastructure

• Support the development of cruise itineraries featuring Namibia as a destination

Seatrade Cruise Global remained one of the most influential platforms in the cruise tourism sector, and NTB’s participation highlighted its continued efforts
