Kenya is set to strengthen its position as Africa’s leading gastronomy destination following a strategic partnership between the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and leading food-tech and hospitality platform EatOut Africa aimed at promoting unique culinary experiences across the destination.
The partnership will seek to strengthen Kenya’s tourism offering by integrating culinary discovery into the broader visitor experience while leveraging technology and digital platforms to enhance how travellers explore, plan, and experience the destination.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Kiambu, KTB CEO June Chepkemei noted that the partnership was timely as global destinations continue to compete for travellers seeking more immersive and authentic experiences.

“As a destination, we have been intentionally expanding the Magical Kenya experience beyond traditional tourism offerings by integrating culture, creativity, wellness, adventure, and now culinary discovery into our destination identity,” said Chepkemei.
“This partnership with EatOut Africa is especially important because it responds to how modern travellers actually make decisions today. Today’s visitor does not wait until arrival to decide where to dine or what experiences to enjoy. They research online, they compare reviews, and they explore digital content before making travel choices,” she added.
The collaboration comes at a time when KTB is intensifying efforts to improve customer experience in an increasingly digital travel environment where visitors make destination choices, bookings, and experience decisions online before they travel.
The KTB CEO highlighted that incorporating technology and digital solutions into tourism marketing and visitor engagement was now critical in ensuring Kenya remains responsive to evolving traveller behaviour.

“Modern travelers want more than just a seat at a restaurant; they want to know the story behind their food. by partnering with EatOut, we are moving beyond traditional dining to highlight our incredible farm-to-table journey. Products like tea and coffee are Kenya’s some of the largest and most celebrated exports, and this partnership will put them at the forefront of our tourism strategy, allowing visitors to experience the source of these world-class commodities firsthand,” noted Chepkemei.
EatOut Africa is one of Kenya’s leading food and restaurant discovery platforms, connecting millions of diners with curated hospitality and culinary experiences across the country. Over the years, the platform has become an important digital tool for restaurant discovery, reservations, reviews, and customer engagement, helping shape consumer dining choices while driving visibility for hospitality businesses.
The partnership will focus on curating and promoting authentic culinary experiences which will include tea farm and coffee roastery tours that showcase Kenya’s globally renowned agricultural heritage as well as interactive cooking and educational classes led by local culinary artists focusing on Swahili and contemporary Kenyan cuisine.
The initiative will further incorporate exclusive chef’s table experiences, curated culinary adventures such as picnics at Nairobi National Park and Tamarind Dhow dinners in Mombasa and guided influencer-led street food tours exploring Nairobi’s vibrant and diverse food culture.
EatOut Africa General Manager Wendy Lorenze said that the partnership would help unlock new opportunities within Kenya’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
“We currently work with some of the best restaurants in Nairobi, and over the years our platform has been used by millions of diners to discover and book restaurants across the city. This partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board will allow us to extend our products to operators offering unique culinary experiences while showcasing the very best of Kenya’s growing food scene,” said Lorenze.
Globally, culinary tourism continues to gain momentum as travellers increasingly seek authentic and experience-driven journeys. The partnership positions Kenya to tap into that growth by making its culinary offerings more structured, discoverable, and accessible through digital platforms.
