Senior government officials, private sector leaders, and investors have collectively adopted the Nairobi Commitment on Advancing Africa’s MICE Industry a continental blueprint to unlock investment, strengthen partnerships, and position Africa as a globally competitive business events destination.
The landmark declaration was adopted today at the Africa MICE Investors & Stakeholders Round Table, held at the Trademark Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, and convened by the Africa MICE Hub as a precursor to the Africa MICE Summit 2026.
This gathering marks one of the first times government bodies, the private sector, and development finance institutions have convened at this level to address the future of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

The collective call to action reflects a shared commitment among stakeholders to: Strengthen collaboration across the continent, Unlock vital investment opportunities, Promote innovation within the sector, Support enabling policies and build a resilient, globally competitive MICE ecosystem across Kenya
The Round Table Attracted a Distinguished Panel of Experts, including: CPA James Mwaura, CEO, KICC, representing Hon. Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Mr. David Gitonga, Secretary, Tourism Development, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. Fiona Ngesa, Deputy Director, Market Development, Kenya Tourism Board Kezy Mukiri, Founder, Africa MICE Hub and Convener Africa MICE Summit. Mulemwa Moongwa, Director of Partnerships, Africa MICE Hub Barry Clemens, Group CEO, HospitalityEQ Jeffers Miruka, Secretary General, Association of Kenya Business Events Jeff Mukolwe, General Manager, The Encore Hotel And many other key industry stakeholders.
The recommendations emerging from the Nairobi Commitment will serve as a guiding framework to inform future investment priorities, policy dialogue, strategic partnerships, and industry development initiatives across the country.

The Africa MICE Hub also unveiled its pre-summit programme, a series of capacity-building and networking events designed to equip African destinations and event professionals to compete on the global stage. Key activities include: The Africa MICE Hub proudly announced the first cohort of strategic partners supporting the advancement of Africa’s business events.
These partnerships signal a coordinated public-private push to elevate Africa’s MICE infrastructure and international visibility. The growing network, set to showcase its strength at the upcoming Africa MICE Summit & Awards 2026, includes: Zuri Events, Tembo International Convention Centre, Tourism News Africa, Association of Kenya Business Events (AKBE), Kenya Airways, Safarilink, Hospitality EQ, Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), among others.
