The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB), alongside the Namibian High Commission to Botswana and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), held high-level engagements in Gaborone to strengthen tourism, trade and investment cooperation, reinforcing bilateral ties and creating new opportunities for regional growth.

The engagements form part of Namibia’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a premier tourism and investment destination while fostering stronger regional cooperation and promoting intra-African travel and trade.

The programme follows yesterday’s successful “Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Namibia” business forum, which brought together business leaders, investors and government representatives to explore Namibia’s favourable investment climate, ease of doing business, tourism investment opportunities, tax incentives and trade prospects. The forum featured presentations by representatives from the Ministry of International Relations and Trade, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB), the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA), and the Walvis Bay Corridor Group.

Today’s programme focuses on a Destination Namibia Update for members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Botswana, where delegates are receiving an overview of Namibia’s diverse tourism offerings, conservation success story, luxury travel experiences, cultural heritage and expanding tourism opportunities. The session also highlights Namibia’s growing air connectivity and strategic importance as a regional tourism destination.

Delivering the destination presentation, Namibia Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sebulon Chicalu, is showcasing Namibia’s unique tourism products while encouraging stronger collaboration between the two neighbouring countries to stimulate regional travel and investment.

Speaking ahead of the Business-to-Business Tourism Stakeholder Engagement scheduled for later today, Mr. Chicalu said:

“Botswana remains an important regional partner for Namibia. Through engagements such as these, we continue to strengthen tourism and business relationships that create mutual opportunities for growth, encourage cross-border travel, and position Southern Africa as a competitive multi-destination region.”

The programme will conclude this afternoon with a Business-to-Business (B2B) Tourism Stakeholder Engagement Session, where tourism operators from Namibia and Botswana will explore opportunities for joint marketing initiatives, product development, cross-border travel packages and long-term commercial partnerships.

The engagements are expected to deepen bilateral cooperation, strengthen tourism trade relationships, promote investment opportunities, and support regional integration while increasing visitor flows between the two countries.

The Namibia Tourism Board remains committed to working with strategic partners across the region to advance sustainable tourism growth, unlock new business opportunities and position Namibia as one of Africa’s leading tourism and investment destinations.
