As concerns over the evolving Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) prompt heightened vigilance, Seychelles is reinforcing precautionary measures to protect public health and prevent the potential importation of the disease. In a notice issued on 14 October 2026, the Ministry of Health outlined measures that the Ministry for Tourism and Culture is now bringing to the attention of tourism stakeholders, international travel partners and prospective visitors, underscoring the importance of staying informed about entry requirements when travelling to the island nation.

“The reported expansion of the outbreak into additional areas within the DRC has raised concerns about the risk of further spread and cross-border transmission. The measures announced by the Ministry of Health are intended to protect our small island community as well as the visitors who come to our islands to relax and create lasting memories,” said the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Amanda Bernstein.

“These measures are not intended to create panic or lead to discrimination against people from affected countries,” she added. “We remain mindful of the communities affected by this situation and recognise the importance of responding with care, understanding and respect.”

Entry Requirements

Foreign nationals
With effect from 14 October 2026, foreign nationals travelling from or having recently travelled to the DRC will only be granted permission to enter Seychelles upon fulfilling the following requirements:

  • Having completed a minimum period of 21 days outside the DRC prior to travelling to Seychelles;
  • Having complied with all health monitoring requirements of the country where they stayed;
  • Having provided supporting documentation, where applicable.

Seychellois citizens and residents
Seychellois citizens and residents arriving from the DRC, or who have been present in the DRC within the previous 21 days, will be subject to mandatory public-health measures. These may include mandatory quarantine at a designated facility or approved location for the remainder of the 21-day incubation period, as determined by the Public Health Authority.

Guidance to Tourism Stakeholders
In accordance with the Ministry of Health’s advisory, airlines, travel agents and tour operators are required to inform passengers of these entry requirements prior to travel.
“We encourage tourism operators to rely on official government communications when advising clients and to avoid circulating unverified information that could cause unnecessary concern,” said Minister Bernstein.

The Ministry for Tourism and Culture will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health and industry partners to ensure the timely dissemination of accurate information. Tourism stakeholders are encouraged to refer all health-related enquiries to the Ministry of Health.

For full details of the applicable measures, travellers and tourism partners should consult the Ministry of Health’s travel advisory issued on 14 October 2026, available at https://www.health.gov.sc/

The Ministry for Tourism and Culture remains committed to supporting a responsible and resilient tourism industry while safeguarding the well-being of residents and visitors.
