Travellers to the Seychelles will now be able to learn more about the destination with a new mobile app. Seychelles Ahoy! is a 3-in-1 app that allows users to research the islands, accommodation and activities.

App developer, Tanya Goodman, says: “For the smaller tourism enterprise in Seychelles, burdened with high commissions payable to booking platforms, this app now creates a direct link between the traveller and the owner of the business.”

Using the traveller’s location, the app will show nearby attractions, restaurant, bus stops or ATMs. The app can also be used for flights, accommodation and other transport.

Earlier this year, the developers met with the Seychelles Tourism Board to discuss the app. Sherin Francis, CEO of the board was hopeful that the app would provide more online visibility for Seychelles. “With such application, which gives people an idea of activities to do in Seychelles, it will help people to do more when in the country and not stay in their hotel, bringing more benefits in the end,” she said.

The app is currently available in English and French, with future plans to support German and Italian version. The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play, usable on Apple products and Android devices.
