Guests staying at Taj Cape Town will be able to surf, stream and work on the fastest hotel internet WiFi connection in the City of Cape Town, thanks to an upgrade to a 500Mbps fibre line, which was completed this year.
The lightning-fast connection will be available throughout the hotel’s rooms, restaurants, conference rooms and public areas and offers guests uncapped and unshaped access, without additional fees.
The new level of connectivity will certainly aid business travelers, who need to stay in touch via video conferencing. Since up to 93% of communication is non-verbal, body language plays a key role in conversation, and video conferencing allows companies to improve meeting efficiency and prevent miscommunications by enabling teams to actually see one another. A recent survey on Lifesize.com illustrated the productivity benefits of video calling, with 82% of users less likely to multitask on a video call than on an audio call, 89% saying that video conferencing reduces time taken to complete projects or tasks and 90% agreeing that video is by far the most effective remote-working way of getting their point across. 98% of respondents also said that video conferencing helps with relationship building, both inside and outside the company.
The increased connectivity speed at Taj Cape Town will also facilitate bandwidth-heavy 4K video calls, allowing travelling workers to share information display merchandise, demonstrate in-room technical models, multimedia presentations, and visual effects in real-life detail. It offers the potential to beam a product demonstration halfway around the world as clearly and as if the salesperson were handing the product directly to their customer.
