The Ugandan representative at the 2018 Miss World pageant Quiin Abenakyo made history becoming the countries first contestant to finish in the top five.

Queen Abenakyo won 3rd position in the race of 118 contestants who came form all over the world.

Although she missed the top crown which was won by Mexico’s Vanessa Ponce De Leon, Abenakyo won the continental crown by beating Mauritius to become Miss World Africa.

Born in Easter Uganda, the 22-year-old a graduate of Business computing is the first Ugandan to win the Miss World Africa crown.

Uganda’s representatives in the past did not make it that far up the ladder and that’s why Abenakyo has made history for Uganda as a whole because she took several notches higher.

First she had to beat her Argentian challenger Victoria Soto in the head to head category before securing a spot in the top 30 contestants.
By Saturday morning Abenakyo had made the top 12 finalists in the competition.

The 68th edition of Miss World 2018 took place in Sanya City China on Saturday December 8th.

Also finishing in the top five was Kadijah Robinson from Jamaica who was crowed Miss World Caribbean, Maria Vaselevich from Belarus who took the European crown, Nicolene Pichapa Limsunkan from Thailand who became Miss World Asia and last Vanessa Ponce De Leon from Mexico who topped the contestants from America.

Ugandans all over social media kept mobilizing for Abenakyo’s support and it has surely got them the crown.
