Uganda Tourism Board gears up for POATE 2020

Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is looking forward to the 2020 edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo as preparations for the country’s biggest tourism and travel trade show continues unabated.

In an interview with VoyagesAfriq on the side lines of the just ended Magical Kenya Travel Expo, the CEO of Uganda Tourism Board, Lily Ajarova, hinted Uganda’s tourism is set to host its Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) scheduled from the 4th to 6th February 2020.

The event is expected to facilitate business to business meetings which will be organized between exhibitors and hosted buyers. The international media will also be hosted to participate in the expo.

“As Uganda and with the Pearl of Africa, we have the strategy to position ourselves as the best destination in Africa and the world at large. We have the diversity in Uganda to be able to attract as many visitors as possible ranging from nature, to culture, to lifestyle, to filming, to sports, to products.” Ajarova said.

She added that the country is positioning itself as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination and that Uganda is well equipped with facilities to host conferences and meetings.

“We will be very excited and delighted to have you in Uganda in February to be part of this expo,” she said.

She commended the just ended Magical Kenya Travel Expo as a platform for good business. She indicated that 18 Ugandan tour operators were present at the expo for business in Kenya as well as other numerous international trade partners who attended the event.
