Tanzania’s commercial capital of Dar es Salaam located along the coastline of the Indian Ocean will be the beehive of activities when travel and tourism practitioners converge for the 5th Swahili International Tourism Expo (SITE) to be held in Mlimani city city from 18-21 October.

The growing regional exhibition has seen improved participation from last year.

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) has confirmed 200 exhibitors, 313 international buyers and media from 41 countries specifically Africa, North and South America, Europe, India, Eastern Europe and China.

Now in its fifth year, S!TE aims to bring together exhibitors from African countries including Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mauritius and Malawi, with buyers from all over the world to showcase Africa’s tourism offerings. The expo hopes to connect tourism operators in Tanzania and neighboring countries with major tourist markets through the hosted buyer programme.

The expo will also afford participants an opportunity to attend seminars and workshops covering a range of topics within the tourism industry.

TTB Managing Director Devota Mdachi said the expo would focus on the themes of conservation and sustainable tourism, tropical tourism and East Africa. “S!TE is providing a modern and effective trade fair concept to connect the travel industry.”
