Kenya’s Minister of Tourism and Wildlife, Najib Balala has underscored the significant role events such as the Magical Travel Expo (MKTE) plays in boosting the country’s tourism and by extension, East Africa’s.

According to him there are myriad of opportunities that these events present to help grow the tourism industry. Balala said this as he engaged journalists who covered this year’s MKTE.

He mentioned for example that Business to Business (B2B) sessions and meetings have proved to be very necessary in boosting the sector.

He added that the show also becomes an avenue for participants from around the world to get acquainted with newly established products and experiences.

East Africa in recent times has become popular for hosting some big regional and global events mainly due to a redirection of focus on MICE as a tourism goldmine by governments.

It is for this reason, Balala believes MKTE and events of its kind are helpful to the tourism industry.

MKTE is arguably East Africa’s biggest tourism and travel trade show attracting hundreds of participants from across the globe each year. Organizers are planning an even bigger event next year as the show reaches a decade milestone since its inception.
