A special edition of the VoyagesAfriq Travel and Tourism Magazine is out with focus on the 40th anniversary of Fitur Madrid – the global event for leading professionals and stakeholders within the travel and tourism industry.

The 54-page full colour publication opens with a welcome message from UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, who among others things gives insights into what he believes will be a great event for African participants as this will be the first time “African Member States will have the opportunity to showcase their many attributes under one pavilion.” INVESTOUR, one of the key events held alongside FITUR where African Tourism Ministers and stakeholders meet to deliberate on issues in the industry also features prominently.

There are stories on the First UNWTO Regional Congress on Women Empowerment in Ghana, the organisation’s Ministers Summit at WTM London, the opening of the UNWTO Online Academy and Morocco’s readiness to host the next General Assembly, rounding up the UNWTO Files for the latest edition.

Highlights from an interview with the COO of Ethiopian Airlines are also captured. Ghana’s quest to become the continent’s mecca for African Diaspora with the introduction of “Beyond the Return” initiative, the release of Kenya’s Tourism Performance Report for 2019 and Seychelles Islands focus on exotic leisure for Africa’s corporate market are also captured in detail. There is a colourful and resplendent collage of photos from WTM London, details on Rwanda as the host of this year’s African Tourism Leadership Forum and Awards and a number of stories from Africa’s growing aviation industry.

In the middle pages come ‘Experts Forecast: African tourism priorities for 2020’ – and expansive collation of views and thoughts on what the continent’s tourism landscape will look like in 2020. Additional information on major happenings within the travel, hospitality and tourism space both at the private and governmental levels such as, Nigeria’s introduction of visa on arrival for African travellers, Somali Cabinet approval of its National Tourism Policy, Hilton Nairobi celebrating their golden jubilee, Rwanda inking a three-year deal with PSG and Malawi becoming the new home for 17 black rhinos from South Africa can all be found in the special edition.

Prospective exhibitors and participants at this year’s WTM Africa will find the latest edition very helpful as it sheds light on what to expect at the event in South Africa.
VoyagesAfriq’s Content Editor, Samuel Obeng Appah explores how Africa’s youth can take advantage of opportunities that exist in the tourism sector in an article, “2020: A new year of opportunities for African Youth in Tourism.” Another piece, “Travel and Tourism media insight – a journey into navigating partnerships” authored by Jillian Blackbeard and another beautiful collection of photos from Adaye Kessie Festival in Cote d’Ivoire add to the many reasons why the latest edition of the VoyagesAfriq Travel and Tourism Magazine is a must-have for anyone who does not want to be left out of the information loop as far as the industry is concerned.
