West African carrier of Ghanaian origin, Africa World Airlines (AWA), will from Monday March 30, suspend all of its flights for the next two weeks.
This is in response to a partial lockdown announced by Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo in an effort to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus in the country.
A statement released by the airline yesterday stated: “Pursuant to the movement restrictions imposed by HE The President of Ghana, Africa World Airlines will not operate any scheduled passenger flights between the dates of 30MAR20 and 13APR20.
We intend to resume normal flight operations upon the lifting of the movement restrictions. In the meanwhile, we urge all Ghanaians to follow the necessary protocols to ensure their personal safety as well as the safety of the entire community.”
