Marrakech is ready to welcome the World- Wali of Marrakech Safi Region

The Wali of the Marrakech Safi Karim Kassi-Lahlou has assured the global tourism community of the warmth of the city to receive them during the 24th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly in October this year.

Receiving the UNWTO Delegation in his office, the Wali Mr. Karim Kassi-Lahlou said Tourism has been one of the most affected sectors since the advent of covid-19 and he is delighted, mobilized, and assured of the success of this event which will relaunch tourism.

“Marrakech has the experience and technical expertise to stage an amazing global showpiece, Morocco has the infrastructure and experience to make the General Assembly a success in such challenging times “Mr Karim Kassi-Lahlou observed.

The Head of the region further congratulated the UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili on his re-election to lead the Madrid based UN Organization.

The Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili was full of praise for the city of Marrakech and the kingdom for the commitment to staging one of the best GA’s.

The UNWTO scribe also commended His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s for Morocco’s early and fast response to the pandemic and his commitment to helping the most vulnerable first.

“This is the beginning of a further exciting partnership between UNWTO and Morocco. We will work add to ensure that, the 24th General Assembly will be the springboard to relaunch and celebrate tourism’s restart’’ Pololikashvili said.

On her part, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy Nadia Fettah Alaoui said, the General Assembly is an opportunity for the tourism world to reinvent and innovate in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. She expressed appreciation to the Secretary-General and his team for the enormous support to member states during this difficult time.

The General Assembly will welcome tourism leaders from every global region. By meeting in person, UNWTO Member States will show that safe international travel is possible.
