The Acting CEO of South African Tourism Ms Sthembiso Dlamini has tendered in her resignation as the interim boss of SAT ahead of her move to Gauteng Tourism Authority.

The Board of South African Tourism in a news release confirmed the news.

“The Board of South African Tourism (SA Tourism) has accepted the resignation of Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer, Ms Sthembiso Dlamini.

“Sthembiso served the organization with distinction for over seven years and her departure is a huge loss to us,” commented SA Tourism Interim Board Chairperson, Advocate Mojankunyane Gumbi.

“As we move towards the recovery of the sector, Sthembiso was pivotal in efforts to lead the organization and the sector on this crucial path. It is comforting to note that we have not lost her talents to the industry as she joins our sister organisation. The Board and the entire SA Tourism family congratulates her on her move and wish her well in her new career path,” added Advocate Gumbi.

“The process to appoint a permanent CEO is still underway and we are hoping to conclude this outstanding matter in the very near future,” concluded Advocate Gumbi.

News Release from Gauteng Tourism Authority

Following an extensive recruitment and selection process over the past months for the new Chief Executive of the organisation, it is with pleasure and no small amount of anticipation the Board announces the appointment of Ms Sthembiso Dlamini as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Gauteng Tourism Authority.

Ms Dlamini’s appointment has been confirmed by the MEC for Economic Development, Mr Parks Tau as well as by the Provincial Executive Committee last week and has been communicated officially to the GTA Board.

Ms Dlamini joins GTA from SA Tourism where she was the Chief Operations Officer and is currently its acting Chief Executive Officer. She has been involved in country-level market intelligence and developing those objectives in line with organisational strategy. She is experienced at adapting brand and marketing strategies adapting these into country specific marketing needs. Her experience extends to leading business information systems, the human capital management (including the restructuring of SA Tourism). Her focus areas have been co-creating and collaborating with the heads of business units to ensure the in-country customisation and execution of the margin enhancing/value-add and innovation strategies. She holds several tertiary qualifications in project management and business leadership and is currently studying towards an MCom in Programme Management.
