As part of the transformational agenda for the tourism sector, the government of Zambia through the Ministry of Arts and Tourism is set to hold the inaugural tourism travel and hospitality education summit aimed at equipping the industry to be prepared for the evolving industry.

The three-day summit is scheduled to take place in the capital Lusaka from 22-24th May.

Announcing the launch of the summit Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba said the importance of the summit is evident in the gathering of senior representatives from the foreign missions and agencies accredited to Zambia, and senior executives from the hospitality, financial, and aviation industries.

“In announcing the Education Summit that will become a legacy project of this government because education is truly one of the greatest equalizers of our time, we are pleased to announce the participation of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Africa Director, Mrs. Elcia Grandcourt. The event is structured as an adaptation of the recently launched UNWTO Tourism Education Guidelines” the minister said.

The Education Summit will be anchored by the Zambia Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies (ZITHS) within the Ministry of Tourism.
