President Alassane Ouattara has reappointed Siandou Fofana as Cote d’lvoire’s Minister of Tourism and leisure for an unprecedented third time in the same portfolio.
His retention is seen as an expression of confidence by the President in the Minister who has already set the West African country’s tourism on a transformation course.
Some of the key undertakings of Fofana during his first term and second terms as Minister include the launch of the flagship ‘Sublime Cote d’lvoire’ project, which seeks to overhaul the country’s tourism landscape through ambitious projects and initiatives, quality assurance improvements in the tourism sector, attracting leading hospitality groups to Côte d’Ivoire among others.
In a post on X, the minister said ‘’I express my gratitude to President Alasanne Ouattara and to Prime Minister Beugré Mambé for my reappointment to the government as Minister of Tourism and Leisure. It is with renewed enthusiasm that I will continue to work for our dear country’’
Fofana also led Cote d’lvoire to be admitted to UNWTO’s Executive Council as a member and was subsequently elected as its chairman.
In order to drive investments into Cote d’lvoire’s tourism, Fofana led a series of fundraising activities in Dubai in 2019.
