The Government and people of Mozambique are excited to play host to Ms. Elcia Grandcourt, the Regional Director for Africa at the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), who is in the Portuguese-speaking African country to grace the 9th edition of Fikani; Mozambique’s international tourism fair.
The highly anticipated travel and tourism event is scheduled to hold from November 30 to December 3, 2023, and it is poised to ignite discussions on crucial tourism issues.
Excitedly, the Southern African country extended its warmth to Ms. Grandcourt, who was received at the Ministério Da Culture E Turismo by Fredson Bacar, Deputy Minister of Tourism.
At the reception, she conveyed the warm greetings of UNWTO’s secretary-general, Zurab Pololikashvili, and Executive Director, Natalia Bayona, to the people of Mozambique.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the topical issues outlined at the fair, Grandcourt noted that they aligned with the UNWTO’s development agenda for the African region.
She also pledged UNWTO’s unwavering support to collaborate with Mozambique, in among other things, assemble experts to assess the country’s tourism potential and identify critical areas requiring attention.
Mrs Grandcourt’s presence at the fair underscores the commitment of the UNWTO in fostering partnerships and amplifying opportunities within Mozambique’s vibrant tourism sector.
The Fikani International Tourism Fair serves as a pivotal platform for discussions encompassing various themes including; air transport, market liberalization processes, market access, competition, dispute resolution mechanisms, travel and tourism trade, as well as evaluating the state of air connectivity, among other pressing matters.
