A group of aviation and tourism journalists recently experienced the unparalleled beauty and unique landscapes of Namibia, thanks to a familiarization (fam) trip organized by the Namibia Tourism Board. The trip followed the AviaDev Africa conference, showcasing Namibia’s stunning offerings to industry leaders and influencers.

Tatenda Karuwa, African Lead Journalist for Simple Flying, shared his amazement at Namibia’s diverse landscapes. He said,
“I’ve been in Namibia for five days now, and this place is unbelievable. Just the other day, we were exactly where the desert meets the sea. And today, we are quad biking in the dunes. How many places like this exist? Absolutely few. These are the stories I’m going to tell people forever. This is going to live with me forever,” Karuwa exclaimed.

Michael Jonga, representative of Aviation Solutions Group, Aerotime, and AI12, echoed this sentiment. “This is my first time on this trip here in Namibia, and it’s an absolutely fantastic experience. So splendid, so thrilling, breathtaking. To anyone who wants to experience something in their life that they may never experience again, this is the place to be,” Jonga enthused.

Jon Howell, the CEO and Founder of Aviadev clearly moved by the experience, remarked,

“Wow, just wow. Possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to in my entire life. And it’s kind of emotional being here. I’ve seen it on TV, I’ve seen it in films, but I mean, I still couldn’t get AI to imagine anything like this, that’s for sure.”

Hilka Birns, Aviation Journalist at CH-Aviation, described her visit to Sandwich Harbour with profound emotion. She said,

“So we made it to Sandwich Harbour today, which is one of the most beautiful places in the world. A place I’ve been dreaming of coming to for about 35 years. And we made it today. I decided I want to have my ashes strewn here one day. That’s how beautiful it is. Absolutely amazing day.”

Richard, reporting from the iconic Southern Namibian dunes, summed up his experience succinctly, “It’s just fantastic and great to come. Come to Namibia.”
