The new ASANA Bar and Kitchen serves a refined take on Asian-fusion cuisine in the heart of Accra. At an exclusive two-day opening event, it previewed the new dining spaces and eateries of its latest culinary venue. In attendance were high-profile delegates, famous personalities and some of the nation’s top food influencers.

The latest addition to the ever-evolving culinary scene at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, the sophisticated space offers both indoor and outdoor seating for up to 104 guests and is located near the iconic spiral staircase of the hotel’s grand lobby. Surrounded with palms and potted plants, guests are welcomed into an elegant yet relaxed environment, where contemporary and natural design elements harmoniously converge.

A pristine, textured, white marble bar with distinct vining marks the centre of ASANA Bar and Kitchen, accented by suspended ornate pendant lamps and vibrant red bar stools. Inside, guests can sit at the striking 360-degree marble counter bar or at the cosy lounge area and enjoy a uniquely curated cocktail menu that explores flavours and cultures from the East and West.

Outdoors, the open-air restaurant offers views of the cascading waterfall and greens of the Cedar Garden and blends Asian-inspired dishes with Ghanaian flair, using locally sourced ingredients to create a vibrant and balanced fusion. Guests can expect an experience that is both adventurous and comforting, from small bites to signature plates.

‘Every dish at ASANA tells a story,’ said Felix Otte, Director of Food & Beverage at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra. ‘Our culinary team has taken great care to balance bold, familiar Ghanaian tastes with subtle Asian nuances. It is a fusion that is exciting, yet deeply respectful of both cultures.’

One menu standout is the Watermelon Gochujang starter that pairs avocado mousse and chilli vinaigrette with watermelon – a dessert fruit widely enjoyed in Ghana. Other unique items on the menu include a delightful Baked Miso Salmon, Pork Bulgogi Quesadillas and a refreshing sorbet dessert made of yams.

To commemorate the launch and the hotel’s ten-year anniversary, ASANA also introduced a signature cocktail – Afe Du – meaning ‘Ten Years’ in Twi, a variety of the Akan language spoken in Ghana. Crafted by the bar’s mixology team, the cocktail combines local infusions with international spirits for a flavour that is both celebratory and symbolic.

Ultimately, the expertise of its service team sets ASANA Bar and Kitchen apart from other dining venues in the city. The waiters and bartenders at ASANA are extensively trained in the food and beverage offerings and can recommend pairings, provide insight into flavour profiles and share the inspiration behind each dish or cocktail. Guests are welcomed with warmth, knowledge and professionalism, making ASANA as much about connection as it is about the cuisine.

‘ASANA represents the culmination of a decade of delivering exceptional moments to our guests, and we wanted to celebrate this milestone with a concept that honours our Ghanaian roots while embracing global inspiration,’ said Hanno Barkhoff, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra. ‘It is not just a bar or an à la carte restaurant but a reflection of who we are as a hotel and how we continuously evolve our food and beverage offerings.’

ASANA Bar and Kitchen is now open to the public. While the restaurant requires reservations, the bar warmly welcomes walk-ins and invites both hotel guests and residents to unwind, indulge and celebrate life’s little luxuries.
