The newly established Angola Convention Bureau positions the country on the global stage as “The Meeting Room in Africa”—an emerging meetings and events destination with strong growth potential and dynamic infrastructure development.

The newly established Angola Convention Bureau (ACB) made its first international appearance at IMEX Frankfurt 2026. The debut marks an important milestone in Angola’s strategy to position itself as an emerging destination for international business events.

IMEX participation follows just days after the official opening of the Angola Convention Bureau on May 6 in Luanda and underlines the country’s ambition to attract more international business events to Angola in the years ahead.

At IMEX, the Angola Convention Bureau was joined by 11 co-exhibitors at booth C510. Together, they are presenting the full breadth of Angola’s meetings and events offering— including destination management companies, hotels, event agencies and the new convention center in Luanda, scheduled to open this fall.

The delegation also included senior representatives from the Angolan government and the meetings industry, including Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Angola, Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, and Margarida Gorjão-Henriques, Director of the Angola Convention Bureau and Head of the Kleber Group office in Angola.

The appearance support’s Angola’s national strategy to develop the meetings industry as a driver of economic growth. Alongside major infrastructure investment—including the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, with capacity for up to 15 million passengers annually, and a new convention center for up to 3,000 participants—Angola is strengthening its international competitiveness in the business events sector.

“The establishment of the Angola Convention Bureau, as part of our engagement in Angola is an important milestone in the development of the country’s MICE market. Our close collaboration enables us to further position and sustainably develop Angola within the global MICE landscape,” said Julia Kleber, CEO of the KLEBER Group, which has managed Angola’s global tourism representation since 2025.

“IMEX Frankfurt 2026 provided the ideal setting to showcase Angola’s ambitious entry into the global MICE market and to present the country’s growing potential as a new destination within the meetings and events industry.”

Under the guiding theme “The Meeting Room in Africa,” Angola is presenting itself as a destination defined by modern infrastructure, expanding international connectivity, and rich natural and cultural diversity. This momentum is reflected in business travel from Europe, with arrivals increased from 45,757 in 2024 to 59,750 in 2025.

The Angola Convention Bureau acts as a central point of coordination between the international events industry, government institutions and private-sector stakeholders. Its role includes supporting the acquisition of international events, building long-term partnerships and contributing to the sustainable development of Angola’s meetings industry.

With its debut at IMEX Frankfurt, Angola is sending a clear message to the international market: the country is ready to establish itself as a professional, competitive and long-term meetings destination in Africa—strategic, dynamic and driven by a clear vision for growth.
