The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has partnered with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to promote Uganda as a leading African tourism destination during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Under the agreement, UTB will serve as an Official Competition Sponsor of the tournament, providing an opportunity to showcase Uganda’s tourism attractions, rich cultural heritage and diverse visitor experiences to a global audience.

The partnership was officially launched in Kampala, Uganda, with CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu joined by Uganda Tourism Board CEO Juliana Kagwa and other government officials.

Those present included Peter Ogwang, Minister of State for Education and Sports; Susan Nakawuki Nsambu, Minister of State for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities; and the Deputy Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, who served as the Chief Guest.

The partnership is expected to leverage the continental football tournament to increase Uganda’s international visibility and attract more visitors to the country.

With AFCON 2027 bringing together football fans, teams, officials and visitors from across Africa and beyond, Uganda hopes to use the competition as a platform to encourage visitors to explore its tourism offerings beyond the football matches.

UTB has described the partnership as an exciting opportunity to present Uganda’s vibrant culture and unforgettable experiences to the world, inviting visitors to “explore Uganda beyond the game and stay for the discovery.”
