GTA holds National Tourism Awards On March 22

The Ghana Tourism Authority will organise the 2018 National Tourism Awards under the theme CELEBRATING OUR HERITAGE, at the Event Haven, Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, La, Accra on March 22, 2019.

The National Tourism Awards was instituted by the Ghana Tourism Authority in 1997 to reward excellent performance in the tourism sector. It is also to raise standards and encourage healthy competition among industry players with a view to firmly positioning tourism as a vibrant economic sector and to consolidate the country’s position as a preferred tourist destination.

The National Tourism Awards is one of the flagship events of the Authority and it sets the tone for high standards in service delivery among practitioners in the tourism industry. The Regional Awards were held last month by the various regional offices of the Authority.
There are two main Award areas: Competitive Awards and Honorary Awards. A total of 29 Awards will be given to deserving tourism establishments and personalities during the awards ceremony.

The Competitive Awards include, Accommodation: Serviced Apartment, Hostel , Budget Hotel, Guest House, 1 Star Hotel, 2 Star Hotel, 3 Star Hotel, 4 Star Hotel and 5 Star Hotel of the Year.
Catering Services: Offshore/ Airline Catering Establishment, Night Club/Pub, Drinking Bar, fast food, Traditional Caterer (CHOP BAR), Restaurant of the Year (Grade 3), Restaurant of the Year (Grade 2) and Restaurant of the Year ( Grade 1).
Travel Services: Visitor Attraction of the Year, Site Guide of the Year, Tour Guide of the Year, Car Rental of the Year, and Airline of the Year.
Media: Tourism Programme of the Year, Tourism Oriented Media of the Year (Television, Radio, Print and Online) and Tourism Writer of the Year.

The Honorary Awards is based on special recognition for outstanding contribution to the Tourism Industry in Ghana.
