Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi gets New General Manager

Radisson Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Rob Kucera as the District Director East Africa & new General Manager for Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi, Upper Hill. Kucera has an impressive 20 years’ experience managing multiple functions of high-volume Hotels, Golf Resorts & Spas.

A South African national and a hospitality veteran, Rob has worked for premier, upmarket 5 Star Hotels & Resorts such as Westin Cape Town, Arabella Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort both part of Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Movenpick Wilderness Hotel and Protea Hotels, all based in South Africa. His most recent post was General Manager of Radisson Blu Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey.

Commenting on his appointment, William McIntyre, Regional Director, Africa, Radisson Hotel Group said, “Rob’s extensive industry knowledge and multifaceted skills in various hotel functions, will prove to be a great asset in driving business growth at Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi, Upper Hill. Kucera’s career highlights have included being awarded multiple awards in various capacity, including an international recognition of ‘Best Team Award’ when he led Westin Cape Town. He served as the Chairman of the FEDHASA Cape Board for over 3 years, which represents over 700 companies in Western Cape, South Africa.

Commenting on his appointment, Kucera said, “Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi, Upper Hill is a leading hotel in the region and am delighted to be joining such a dynamic team. I look forward to applying my expertise and continue providing guests with exceptional service and accommodation facilities which define the hotel.”

He’s regional function as the District Director for the Radisson Hotel Group will give him an oversight role of existing properties & future openings in East Africa. Commenting on this, he added, “We are rapidly growing our footprint across Africa and I look forward to driving the expansion plans within East Africa”.

Locally, Rob will be responsible for the operations and all round performance of the 271-room Upper Hill property. The hotel features one of the best and largest meeting facilities in Kenya – with a total of 14 meetings rooms & boardrooms, including a 590 sqm. ballroom. It offers 2 distinct restaurants & bar, offering both local & international flavors.
