Air Seychelles rewards SBSA Graduates for Outstanding Performance

Air Seychelles, has awarded two past students from the Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA) for their excellent performance and dedication towards their studies.

The two graduates, Kurtis Confait hailing from Hermitage and Shebele Ismaël residing at La Misere joined the airline’s finance department on a full time work basis in January upon completion of their studies at the institution.

As part of their development at Air Seychelles both Kurtis and Shebele had the chance to work within the treasury and revenue accounting department whilst awaiting their scholarship programme to further gain and build their experience in the field in addition to mastering the technical know-how required for the job.

Following the SBSA graduation ceremony held in April this year, Shebele won the outstanding performer award in Business Studies and Accounting as well as the dedicated award for being the best performer in the Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) examination.

Having obtained his Diploma in Office Management and Administration, Kurtis who graduated with flying colors obtained the most outstanding performer award for the City and Guilds international examination.

Presenting the graduates with their farewell gifts, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, Remco Althuis said: “It can be difficult to find work placement whilst awaiting to proceed on scholarship since some companies would rather have graduates on a long term employment scheme.

“At Air Seychelles we are ready to provide the young generation the opportunity as and when available to gain hands on experience and the necessary skills required in their specific field.

“It was indeed a great pleasure for our finance team to work with the two graduates and we wish them all the best as they proceed on further studies.”

Speaking to her finance colleagues Shebele said: “I am grateful for the opportunity given by Air Seychelles and I am sure that all the skills and techniques acquired will be put to good use throughout my studies.”

Expressing his gratitude to Air Seychelles Kurtis commented: “Since I joined the finance team I have felt the sense of belonging and I must say that it was great to work with the team.

“The good relationship established has surely helped me to build my confidence and I am ready for the next challenge ahead.”

Kurtis will be proceeding for further studies at the University of Seychelles while Shebele who will soon follow her studies in Malaysia were each rewarded with a laptop.
