Radisson Hotel Group has announced plans for its first hotel in the Tunisian capital of Tunis.

The 117-room property will form part of the IQ Smart Building and Business Centre in Tunis North, a development which will be located next to the forthcoming Tunis Sport City and which will also feature retail space and commercial offices.

Radisson Hotel Tunis is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2023, and will offer “a panoramic swimming pool leading onto an expansive terrace”, as well as a restaurant, bar, rooftop lounge, fitness centre, wellness spa and 358 sqm of events space across five rooms.

The hotel will be situated walking distance of the city’s El Kram Exhibition and International Trade Centre, as well as the business district of Les Berges du Lac.

Radisson Hotel Group currently has four properties in Tunisia, including the Radisson Blu Resort and Thalasso, Hammamet, on the Gulf of Hammamet to the south east of Tunis.

Commenting on the news Elie Younes, executive vice president and chief development officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said:
“We see a great opportunity in Tunis, as there is currently a limited supply of high-quality accommodation in the city.

“Tourism remains one of the most important sectors in the country with the sector accounting for nearly 10 per cent of total investment, according to WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council).

“We look forward to a successful journey with our partners and to providing career opportunities for the local people.”
