#POATE2020: Welcome cocktail dinner for hosted buyers & media heralds event

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has organised a welcome cocktail and dinner for hosted buyers and media who are participating in this year’s Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo.

The Expo which will take place from February 4-6 precedes with a familiarization trip to various destinations for the buyers and media.

At the cocktail dinner at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, various speakers including UTB CEO, Lilly Ajarova, Board Chair, Daudi Migereko and Minister of State for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwanda were unanimous in expressing their delight and appreciation that the invited guests could come to the East African country to experience and sample their tourism products.

“We take your presence here seriously,” declared the Minister.

They welcomed buyers from Nigeria, Burundi Kenya, South Africa, Philippines, Egypt, Russia, Malawi, Belgium, Zimbabwe, USA, Germany, India and asked them to brace themselves to enjoy and discover why Uganda is the “Pearl of Africa.”

For them, POATE 2020 focuses on three primary areas; namely: connecting, showcasing and discovering.

POATE, according to the organisers seeks to create opportunity for Ugandan tourism players by helping them connect with the rest of the world. “In essence, the goal of POATE2020 on a strategic level is to bring awareness to Uganda’s diverse tourism products.”
