Air Seychelles has today announced that the airline will be cancelling a series of flights across its regional and domestic network following a significant downturn in air travel, due to the outbreak of The Novel Coronavirus (COVID -19). Effective 26 March until 30 April 2020, the airline will be cancelling 10 flights on the Mauritius route, whilst on the Johannesburg route the airline will be cancelling 11 flights.

On the Mumbai route a total of 21 flights will be cancelled until 30 June, 2020. A complete list of the cancelled flights can be found on the Air Seychelles website at airseychelles.com. Following the recent travel restrictions implemented in Israel, Air Seychelles will also be cancelling 2 flights to Tel Aviv during this period. Charles Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Seychelles said: “Due to the negative effects of COVID-19 on demand, we have been forced to cancel approximately 40% of our flying schedule through the end of April.

Charles Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Seychelles said: “Due to the negative effects of COVID-19 on demand, we have been forced to cancel approximately 40% of our flying schedule through the end of April. “We are monitoring the situation daily and hope that further reductions will not be necessary.” Guests holding Air Seychelles tickets affected by these cancellations will be notified by the airline of their travel options.

Guests scheduled to travel between 4 March and 31 March, 2020 on the regional network are also being provided the option to change their travel dates free of charge. As the booking performance for domestic flights have decreased tremendously, following considerable cancellations from overseas due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the airline will be consolidating a number of flights on its Praslin route.
Air Seychelles is also encouraging its staff to proceed on annual leave at this time due to a reduction in activities across the entire business.
