There is good news for Uganda’s Tourism sector as the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities unveils the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that will guide the operations of the sector.

The SOPs are aimed to ensure compliance to health, hygiene, safety & sanitation guidelines, to prevent the spread of #COVID19, protect employees, guests and suppliers.

Together with the Ministry, Tourism private sector and Local government, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) will coordinate implementation of the procedures.

Lilly Ajarova – CEO of Uganda Tourism Board

A copy of the interim protocol is available for download on the UTB website via the link https://utb.go.ug/publications/standard-operating-procedures-hospitality-enterprises-during-covid-19-outbreak?fbclid=IwAR2G98GtHVrCXF37rjjSQc5hhPaJsy_kslARAL96gFoQX3kocJ9JrLQ_2n0

UTB strongly recommends that tourism and hospitality enterprises along the chain follow the new guidelines to be a part of the mitigation and recovery mission for the betterment of the tourism sec in Uganda.

The Board is encouraging management of hospitality enterprises to educate all categories of staff of the critical importance of these procedures designed to make sector operations safe for both guests and staff.
“It must also be noted that any instructions issued by the Government from time to time should be binding,” a statement by UTB added.
