Panellists to carve a new image for Africa’s Gastronomy on May 25th

On Tuesday, 25 May, panellists and guest speakers on the UNWTO Month of Tourism and African Gastronomy will seek to sculpt a new image for African gastronomy in the third of ongoing series of conversations all month long.

During the African Union (AU) Day event, topics to be discussed will build a new narrative for Africa through its culinary flavours and will be moderated by celebrated food writer, Yasmine Fofana.
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili will open this session with a special speech to commemorate AU Day.

Speakers for this session will be H.E. Dr. Carlos Jorge Duarte Santos, Minister of Tourism and Transport of Cabo Verde, Kwakye Donkor, Chief Executive Officer, Africa Tourism Partners, Peter Muchemi, Jiranis Food (Kenya) and Emeric Richard, Food Trucks Gourmets and organizer of African Street Food Festival in Lyon.

The rest are, Coco Reinharz, Celebrity Chef, speaker at the conference How to integrate African gastronomy in the world haute cuisine? (DRC, Belgium and South Africa) and Alex Oke, a Pastry chef who creates events for knowledge sharing about African Gastronomy. (Nigeria).

There will be show cooking with Morocco’s Chef El Hadi who will take participants through the preparation of the World Intangible Heritage dish: couscous
