Lufthansa Group increases frequency to Namibia with Eurowings Discover Airline

Lufthansa Group’s newest leisure airline, Eurowings Discover, touched down in Namibia for the very first time this Wednesday. The new carrier departed from Frankfurt on August 10, 2021, with an Airbus A330-200. Flight 4Y132 arrived at Hosea Kutako International Airport this morning at 8:05 am on time.

Eurowings Discover operates five weekly connections from Frankfurt to Windhoek in 2021, with return flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. From summer 2022, the leisure carrier will even increase its service to daily flights with three weekly onward tag flights to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Captain Wolfgang Raebiger, who is also the CEO of the new airline, operated the first flight to Windhoek, which was welcomed by an airport event and special guests including the German Ambassador Herbert Beck.

“This flight marks an important milestone for our new airline Eurowings Discover: starting from today, we will take over the route between Germany and Namibia, which has been served successfully over the past years by Lufthansa Group already. Windhoek has always been a popular holiday destination for travelers from all over the world and we are happy to continue offering our customers the possibility to travel to this beautiful country – even with an increased schedule. By handing over this route to its new leisure airline, the Lufthansa Group emphasizes both the importance of Namibia as a destination in its touristic portfolio as well as its commitment to the Southern African region,” says Wolfgang Raebiger, Chief Executive Officer of Eurowings Discover.

Eurowings Discover Crew

Namibia Airports Company (NAC) Bisey /Uirab welcomes Eurowings Discover to Hosea Kutako International Airport. “This inaugural flight will offer wider air connectivity to the European market and the rest of the world. The continuation and expansion of the direct flight connection from Frankfurt to Windhoek will contribute in making the travel experience more convenient and seamless. This will culminate in an increase in passenger movements and revenue generation. We remain committed in providing improved customer services to our airlines at our airport currently under renovations.”

High-quality product with many services included

This flight connects to the heart of Europe. Passengers from Namibia are welcomed on board and can continue to rely on this nonstop flight service to Germany and beyond. Tickets can be booked via the usual channels, travel agencies and online. Return fares from Windhoek to Frankfurt start at 8,455 NAD booked via NDC and 8,955 NAD via GDS (one bag included) in Economy Class. In Business Class fares start at 26,413 NAD via NDC and 27,413 NAD via GDS (two bags included).

Eurowings Discover offers a high-quality product with many services included. The aircraft has a total of 270 seats, 22 of which are in Business Class (lie-flat seats), similar to the Lufthansa Business Class seats. Moreover, within the next few months, all Eurowings Discover aircraft will gradually become equipped with up to 31 Premium Economy Class seats.

Eurowings Discover A330-300

In all three classes, guests can look forward to a special, high-quality travel experience with all meals and non-alcoholic beverages included in the fare. In Business Class, all beverages will be offered free of charge, while in the Premium Economy Class there will also be a complimentary selection of beer and wine.

There is also a variety of Buy-on-Board offers, which travelers in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class can select from additional snacks and beverages.Next to the culinary experience, Eurowings Discover also provides excellent entertainment onboard the flight to your vacation – completely free of charge in all classes. With their own screens, travelers can choose from over 50 movies, 80 TV programs, and numerous soundtracks. Another special feature on board Eurowings Discover that will be implemented gradually: guests can quickly and easily connect to the Onboard-Cloud via their own device to receive an extended entertainment offer with a wide selection of magazines and over 50 cutting-edge games, gaming streams as well as an integrated gaming platform.
