Cabo Verde’s tourism haven of Sal Island is gearing up to host the second UNWTO Global Tourism Investment Forum.

The Forum is being held under the framework of the 64th UNWTO Commission for Africa (CAF) meeting scheduled from 2-4 September 2021.

The Investment Forum will focus on “innovation and investment” showcasing the investment climate in the tourism sector in Africa with Cabo Verde as a case study.

The Forum is expected to help strengthen UNWTO´s purpose to accelerate the economic recovery of the tourism sector through innovation, education, and investment.

The platform will provide Member States with relevant content and insights to enhance future resilience in the interconnections of the tourism value chain post-COVID-19.

The discussions will address measures for sustainable investments, and enhancing coordination and cooperation to promote digitalization and innovation initiatives among stakeholders in the sector focusing on economic recovery, job creation, and resilience post COVID-19.

The Forum will invite Ministers of Tourism, traditional and non-traditional investors, Multilateral Funds, African Regional Economic Communities, African regional and sub-regional organizations, Travel Tech Startups and media partners to share best practices and insights.

Côte d’Ivoire’s capital of Abidjan was the host of the maiden edition in February 2020.
