Côte d’Ivoire kickstart World Tourism Day celebration with launch of Caravan of activities

Côte d’Ivoire has launched a 15-day caravan as part of the celebrations of this year’s world tourism day.

The ceremony which took place at Heden Golf Hotel Abidjan on Tuesday, September 07, 2021, is aimed at exposing selected tourist attractions of Côte d’Ivoire as a prelude to the world tourism day ceremony on Monday 27th September.

Speaking at the official launch of the event, Cote d’Ivoire’s Minister of Tourism and Leisure Siandou Fofana said “This year, the theme chosen for the World Tourism Day celebration is tourism for inclusive growth. Côte d’Ivoire which is back among leading developing nations since President Alassane Ouattara’s accession to the presidency must present to the world, the influence and economic dynamism that has helped managed the Covid 19 pandemic and has been able to develop resilience in the various sectors of activity, of which the tourism and leisure sector is a perfect illustration, ”

He added that there will be an Ivorian tourist fortnight: Post-Covid tourism which will start in the land of Eburnie. This fortnight, which is intended to be annual and lasting, will be an opportunity for the Ministry of Tourism to invite the public to discover the different regions of the country through six (6) mobile and thematic caravans which will crisscross 32 localities.

The Acting Director General of Côte d’Ivoire Tourism Isabelle Anoh outlined the different stages of the tourist circuit which included Tiassalé, Divo, Gagnoa, Soubré, San-Pédro and Abidjan, from September 15 to 20.

Meanwhile, in Abidjan, it is planned the “Abidjan Tourism Days”, a tourist village which will stand in the courtyard of the palace of the culture of Treichville, from September 17 to 19. Activities lined up include, professional tourism exhibitions, arts and crafts exhibitions, training and learning workshops, catering, gastronomic competitions, leisure activities, traditional and educational games, traditional activities and dances and concerts for the general public.

The ceremony was filled with pomp and pageantry and assembled several high-level public and private sector leaders including First Lady of Cote d’Ivoire Dominique Ouattara who was the chief guest for the occasion.

The 32 villages which form the routes of this event will showcase the best of the west African nation.
